FC Cincinnati have been making great strides of improvement over the past years, and they will eventually join the MLS next season. Last season they made it to the US Open Cup semi-finals, and this season they will be looking to repeat their success. They will now play host to Minnesota United on Wednesday, in the fourth round of this season's US Open Cup.
FC Cincinnati have been killing it in the USL so far in the season, as they are sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference with 23 points after 12 matches (7-3-2). They are coming off a really solid overturn win on the road against the NY Red Bulls 2 and have been in pretty good form lately (3-1-1). They have not been as solid at home so far (2-2-1), where they have failed to keep a single clean sheet. In the previous rounds of the US Open Cup they struggled a bit against Detroit but eventually destroyed them by 1-4 at home, before defeating Pittsburg by 3-1.
Minnesota United are having yet another mediocre season in the MLS, as they are currently sitting at the 9th spot of the Western Conference with 16 points after 14 matches (5-8-1). They are coming off a really bad loss on the road against SKC by 4-1 and have won just one of their last five (1-3-1). Their main problem is their defense, as they have the 2nd worst in the Western Conference with 26 conceded. Moreover, they have been awful on the road so far (1-6-0), where they have lost each of their last five, while conceding at least three goals in four of those matches.
