Manchester United vs Crystal Palace 9/19/20 - EPL Picks & Predictions

Last Updated: 09/15/2020 at 7:55 PM ET

Manchester United welcomes Crystal Palace on Saturday to Old Trafford for the start of the 2020-21 English Premier League campaign for the Red Devils. This is Manchester United's first match of the season a week later than others due to the long run they had in the Europa League. Last season Manchester United ended its English Premier League campaign by going unbeaten in 14 consecutive matches to finish third and earn a spot in the Champions League.

Manchester United has won each of its last five fixtures on opening day including a 4-0 victory at Old Trafford over Chelsea to begin the 2019-20 campaign. Last season, United had the third-best defensive record of any club in the EPL. Manchester United will feature Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Bruno Fernandes, who joined Manchester United in January and scored eight goals in his 14 top flight English appearances and added seven assists.

Crystal Palace arrives at Old Trafford following its 1-0 victory over Southampton last Saturday at its home pitch at Selhurst Park. Wilfried Zaha scored the only goal of the match for Crystal Palace. However, Crystal Palace was very lucky to have earned all three points after Southampton dominated for long stretches of the match and were denied several excellent opportunities by goaltender Vicente Guaita.

Crystal Palace will have some selection worries as manager Roy Hodgson could be without four defenders Gary Cahill, James Tompkins, Mamadou Sakho and Patrick van Aanholt, all of whom have varying injuries including hamstring, thigh and shoulder problems. The only goal scored through one fixture for Crystal Palace was by Wilfried Zaha.

Donny van de Beek is expected to make his Manchester United debut after starring for Ajax and Holland. The midfielder could be the last piece of Manchester United's puzzle and alongside stars Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes should be an impact player immediately. Manchester United has won each of its last five fixtures on opening day and makes it six straight on Saturday at Old Trafford with a victory. Final Score Prediction, Manchester United wins 3-0
