Manchester City (4-1-0) travels to Aston Villa (1-0-4) on Sept. 3 for the sixth match of the 2022-23 Premier League season.
City leads the league with 19 goals scored and a plus-14 goal differential. Erling Haaland has set a record with nine goals through his first five games in the Premier League including back-to-back hat tricks. In City’s 6-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, the Norwegian superstar scored all three of his goals in the first half. Newcomer Julian Alvarez also scored twice for City against Forest.
Aston Villa has scored just four times while allowing nine goals in its five matches. The Villans lost 2-1 at Arsenal on Wednesday. Down 1-0, Douglas Luiz scored direct from a corner after just entering the match to get the equalizer for Aston Villa in the 74th minute. It didn’t take long for Arsenal to take the league again, scoring in the 77th minute.
Manchester City is 28-9-7 all time in Premier League matches against Aston Villa. In the 2021-22 season, City beat Aston Villa 3-2 at home in May after winning 2-1 at Villa Park in December.
