Man United at Southampton 12/1/18 - Premier League Picks & Predictions

Manchester United might have struggled in their last two matches for the Premier League but they did great in their Champions League match mid-week. They will now return to Premier League duties on Saturday, when they will be hosted by Southampton. Southampton have been in really poor form this season but quite a hard nut to crack at home.

Southampton (1-7-5) are coming into this match after a really frustrating elimination in the Carabao Cup. They were up against Leicester on the road in the round of 16 and actually played a really good match overall. After a goal-less draw in the regular time the match went to penalties where after five successful shots for each team, Leicester scored while Gabbiadini didn’t for Southampton and they were eliminated. Last week they lost by 2-3 on the road against Fulham and are now sitting at the 18th spot of the Premier League, one point below the red line. They might have not won at home yet (0-2-3) but they were competitive in all but one. On the other hand, Manchester United (6-4-3) used a lot of subs in their Champions League match at home against Young Boys, but won by 0-1 and secured a spot to the next round. But last week they stuck at a goal-less draw at home against Crystal Palace and prior to that they lost by 1-3 against Manchester City. Manchester United are now sitting at the 7th spot of the Premier League with 21 points, six behind the top-five and already 14 behind Manchester City. They have been rather solid on the road so far in all competitions (5-3-1), having scored in all their matches but keeping just two clean sheets in the process.
