Manchester City extended their strong winning streak after edging out Burnley in the FA Cup, and will now be hosted by Newcastle on Tuesday for the Premier League. Newcastle had the opposite result in the FA Cup and will now solely focus on their Premier League duties.
Newcastle (5-12-6) are coming into this match after a really bad performance at home against Watford. After a goal-less first half their opponents took the lead and easily doubled that to win by 2-0. Newcastle have not been very good this season and have won just once in their last nine matches in all competitions (1-4-4). They are now sitting at the 17th spot of the league table with 21 points, just two points ahead of the relegation zone.
Manchester City (18-3-2) had a really easy job in their home match against Burnley in the FA Cup, as they destroyed them by a massive 0-5. That was their eight consecutive win in all competitions and their sixth consecutive clean sheet. Manchester City are still sitting at the 2nd spot of the league table with 56 points, five ahead of Tottenham and four behind league leaders Liverpool.
