Koln might have lost their last match before the break but they were in really solid shape prior to that. They will now look to return to winning ways when they will host Mainz on Sunday. Mainz were also in solid shape, maybe not as good as the hosts, but they will also try to grab some points here.
Mainz (8-15-2) entered the break in quite a solid form, losing just once in their last five matches (2-1-2). But they have not been anything special so far in the season, as they are sitting at the 15th spot of the league table with 26 points, just four ahead of the red line. They too have been hit-or-miss on the road (4-8-0), where 11 of their 12 matches have featured Over 2.5 Goals, with their away matches featuring an average of 4.3 goals per match.
Koln (10-13-2) were really good in their 1-2 away loss against Gladbach before the break, but an own goal deprived them of some points. Even so, they have won four of their last six matches, scoring 16 goals, while conceding 7 in the process. Koln are now sitting at the 10th spot of the league table with 32 points, five behind the top-six spots. They have been hit-or-miss at home so far (6-5-1), but have lost just one of their last seven matches there (5-1-1).
Mainz won by 1-3 at home earlier in the season and have now lost just once in their last five against Koln (2-1-2). However, they have struggled to get results in this venue over the years, winning just twice here in the past two decades (2-7-4). I am going with the home team here.
