Liverpool FC vs. Atalanta BC 11/25/20 - UEFA Champions League Picks & Predictions

Liverpool hosts Atlanta at Anfield Wednesday evening in a Champions League group stage fixture. Liverpool knows that a victory would push them through to the knockout stages with two matches remaining in the group stage. Liverpool sits at the top of Group D five points clear of their nearest competitor. Liverpool remains one of the favorites to win this year's Champions League even though injury problems have mounted significantly.

A victory on Wednesday is important to Liverpool as they would be able to rotate in more players, while resting others over the final two matches of the group stage as their place in the knockout stage would be guaranteed.  Liverpool has won each of its first three matches in the group stage. At the weekend, Liverpool defeated Leicester City 3-0 in dominating fashion and the Reds are now co-leaders in the English Premier League.

Atalanta must improve vastly from its first fixture against Liverpool if they expect to be victorious at Anfield. The top-flight Italian league club has won just one of its last six matches since defeating FC Midtjylland in it's opener of the group stage. For the past few seasons Atalanta has been a prolific goal-scoring club but it appears as though those goals are beginning to dry up.

Atalanta has averaged just one goal per match over his last six matches after scoring 18 goals across its previous five fixtures. The Italian club was held scoreless in the first fixture with Liverpool in Bergamo, in the loss and saw a streak of 10 consecutive matches in the Champions League in which they have scored at least one goal come to an end. On Saturday, Atalanta played to a 0-0 draw with Spezia and sits seventh in Serie A.

Liverpool can seal its place in the final 16 with a victory on Wednesday at home over Atalanta, while the Italian Club could see their time in the Champions League brief with a loss. Liverpool will also have Mohamed Salah back after a negative test for coronavirus. Expect both Liverpool and Atalanta to score more than one goal apiece as the Italian side shakes off its goalless drought and plays well on the road. Final Score prediction, Liverpool win but our best play is OVER 3-2
