New York City FC (0-0-2) are coming off a really frustrating 0-0 draw at home against DC United. They were better in the first half and really took off in the second, but they were unable to score a winning goal. That was their second draw in just as many matches in the new season and they will only hope to improve from now on. The truth is that they deserved to win at least one of their first two matches. LAFC (2-0-0) had a much more comfortable job last week when they hosted the Portland Timbers. They took an early lead but were equalized shortly after, only to take the lead again before the end of the first half. They scored two more goals in the second half to win that match by a slim 1-4. In the opener they beat Sporting KC by 1-2 at home and are now sitting 3rd in the Western Conference.
