In the first match of Group B in the World Cup, Morocco and Iran will fight for the win in what is their easiest match. With Spain and Portugal expected to take the two top spots, there is little room for doubt. However, Morocco are a very solid group and if they manage to win this one they will have greater chances to steal one of the top two spots.
Morocco are one of the most solid mid to low-tier teams in the World Cup, and I personally have great expectations. They have a great coach in Herve Renard who has had great success with other African teams. More importantly, Morocco have a ton of players who play in major European competitions, like Benatia, Belhanda, Ziyech, El Ahmady, Harit and so many more. They might be lacking a solid forward, but their midfield and defense are really good. Moreover, they haven’t lost a single match in over a year, and will be coming here with quite a momentum.
Iran were the first Asian team to book their ticket to the World Cup, and were also the first to travel to Russia. They also have a great coach at the helm, Carlos Queiroz who has worked in some of the biggest clubs in the world (Real Madrid, Manchester United). However, Iran do not have very well-known players and they are the weakest team in this group, at least on paper. They have done a great job in their friendlies lately, but they mostly played with equally weak teams.
