Houston Dynamo vs. Chicago Fire 6/25/22 - Major League Soccer Picks & Predictions

Last Updated: 06/24/2022 at 6:17 PM ET

The Houston Dynamo hosts the Chicago Fire on Saturday in a MLS inter-conference fixture. Houston is 10th in the Western Conference table at 5-3-7 on 18 points with a goal difference of -1. Houston was defeated by Orlando City 2-1 in its most recent match last Saturday. Houston fell behind by two goals through the first 58 minutes, and bounced back with a goal by Sebastian Ferreira in the 59th minute but could not come up with an equalizer.

After an unbeaten run of five matches in March and April with three wins and two draws, Houston has lost six of its last eight MLS fixtures with two wins. Houston has collected the fewest points in the Western Conference since late April. Sebastian Ferreira is the leading goal scorer for Houston with six, while Darwin Quintero has scored five. Adam Lundqvist and Ferreira are the leaders in assists with three each.

The Chicago Fire are 14th or last in the Eastern Conference table at 3-5-7 on 14 points with a goal difference of -6. Chicago took all three points last time out with a 1-0 victory at home on Soldier Field against DC United. Fabian Herbers scored the only goal for Chicago in the 78th minute. The victory snapped a winless stretch of 10 consecutive matches for the Fire stop. Two of the three wins Chicago has this season have been against DC United.

Chicago has only two victories in its last 36 matches away from home versus opponents in the Western Conference. Over that span Chicago has nine draws and 25 losses. One of the two wins during that stretch was against Houston but back in 2019. Xherdan Shaqiri and Kacper Przybylko are the leading goal scorers for Chicago with three each. Gaston Gimenez, Brian Gutierrez and Shaqiri each have two assists to lead the club.

Chicago has defeated Houston in each of the last two meetings dating back to 2019. However, Chicago is playing poorly this season on the road with one win, two draws and five losses in eight matches on the road. Houston has three wins, two draws and two losses at home this season and even though the Dynamo have struggled of late, they are playing better football than Chicago and will be at home. Final Score Prediction, Houston Dynamo wins 2-1.
