Houston Dynamo at Chicago Fire 5/20/18 - MLS Picks & Predictions
Chicago Fire just can't get consistent so far in the season, as they have yet to piece together two consecutive wins. After falling to Columbus last week, they will now return home, where they will play host to Houston on Sunday. Houston have also been quite unstable all season, but they have been slightly better lately.
Chicago (3-5-2) fell hard last week in the Eastern Conference derby against Columbus, as they were defeated by a harsh 0-3 on the road. They were actually quite competitive in that match, but their opponents were much better with their shot selection. Chicago are still sitting at the 7th spot of the Eastern Conference with 11 points, now six points behind the playoff spots. They haven't been any good at home so far (2-3-1), where they have scored 8 goals against 9 conceded. Houston (3-3-3) almost escaped Vancouver with all three points when they scored at the 90th minute, but they were equalized at the stoppage time for the final 2-2. They are starting to find some stability lately, as they have lost just one of their last five (2-1-2). However, they failed to keep a clean sheet once again, which means that they haven't kept one since the premiere. They are now sitting at the 8th spot of the Western Conference with 12 points, just one behind Real Salt Lake and the playoff spots. They have also been pretty bad on the road like usual (0-1-3).
Both teams are known for their weakness on the road, but also for being great at home. Chicago have lost to Houston just once in this venue over the past eight years (5-1-3), but this time the two teams are pretty equal. They both score a lot and concede too, so there is a good chance we will see goals from both sides here.
