Real Madrid are coming off a really hard-fought win in the Champions League round of 16 against Ajax and have been in really top form lately. They will now have a theoretically easy job on Sunday in the La Liga, where they will host Girona. Girona have been terrible lately and don’t have a lot of chances here.

Real Madrid (14-6-3) scored a late goal against Ajax in Amsterdam to win the first leg of the round of 16 by 2-1. That proved that Real Madrid have been in great form lately, as they are undefeated in their last eight (7-0-1). When it comes to the La Liga, Real Madrid are sitting at the 3rd spot with 45 points, two behind Atletico Madrid who have one more match. They have been equally good at home so far (8-2-1), where they have won each of their last four and 10 of their last 12. Girona (5-9-9) are really struggling with consistency at this point in the season, but they probably gave it all in the first half. They are coming off yet another loss, this time by 2-0 at home against Huesca. That was their sixth consecutive loss, while also failing to score in three of those matches. Girona are now sitting at the 17th spot of the league table with 24 points, just one ahead of the relegation zone. They have actually been quite competitive on the road so far (3-4-4) but have not won any of their last seven (0-5-2). They failed to score in three of those matches but scored at least twice in the other four.
