Getafe suffered a really frustrating loss last week against Atletico Madrid, that destroyed their chances for a European ticket for next season. They will now play their final match of the season against bottom-feeders Malaga on Saturday. Malaga have had a really poor season, and have already been relegated.
Malaga (5-27-5) failed to make their project work in the past five years or so, as despite spending a ton of cash to bring in good players, they failed to do anything. This season their roster was depleted of top-class names, and it was only natural. They are coming off three consecutive losses against Betis, Alaves and Espanyol, where they conceded nine goals, against just two scored. They are of course sitting at the bottom of the La Liga with 20 points, featuring the 2nd worst offense and the 3rd worst defense.
Getafe (14-13-10) failed to take advantage of Atletico Madrid's Europa League distraction. Getafe actually had the upper hand throughout the whole match, but condeded an early goal at the 8th minute. They also missed a chance to pull even and keep their European dream alive, as they missed from the penalty spot at the 77th minute. They are now sitting at the 8th spot of the La Liga with 52 points, mathematically unable to challenge Sevilla at the 7th spot.
