Freiburg at RB Leipzig 5/16/20 - Bundesliga Picks & Predictions
RB Leipzig were having a really successful season prior to the break, and they will only be hoping that this hasn’t affected their form. They will now have a great chance to restart their season on Saturday, when they will host Freiburg, who have not been very consistent overall.
Freiburg (10-9-6) entered the break after a really nice 1-3 home win over Union Berlin, but that was just their second win in their last seven matches (2-4-1). Their good run in the first half of the season has them sitting at the 8th spot of the league table with 36 points, just one behind Schalke and the Europa League play-off ticket. Freiburg have been mediocre on the road so far (4-5-4), and pretty terrible lately, winning just one of their last 10 away matches (1-5-4).
RB Leipzig (14-3-8) did a tremendous job in the Champions League round of 16, where they won both matches against Tottenham while keeping clean sheets, and moved on to the next round. They entered the break with a great seven-match undefeated streak in all competitions, keeping six clean sheets in the process. They are sitting 3rd in the Bundesliga with 50 points, one ahead of Gladbach, one behind Dortmund and five behind Bayern Munich. RB Leipzig are also tremendous at home (7-1-4), where they are undefeated since October (8-0-4).
Freiburg did great to beat RB Leipzig by 1-2 at home in the first round, and there has been balance between the two sides over the years (4-4-1). Moreover, there has been just one away win regardless of venue, with the home team winning in seven of the nine matches between these two. RB Leipzig are undefeated as hosts against Freiburg over the years and I expect something similar to happen here.
