Flamengo and River Plate have already captured the two top spots of Group D in the Copa Libertadores, and they will now fight for the top spot on Wednesday. The two teams played for a 2-2 draw in the premiere in Brazil, and the match-up is now reversed, when River Plate will play host on Wednesday.

River Plate (3-0-2) scored a late equalizer in the premiere against Flamengo in order to secure a 2-2 draw in Brazil. After that they were held to a goal-less draw at home against Sante Fe, but they quickly got their act together and won their next three matches. They are now sitting at the top spot of Group D with 11 points, having scored 6 goals so far, against just 3 conceded. A draw here would be enough to secure the top spot of the group in hopes of a more favorable match-up. Flamengo (2-0-3) have also done a solid job in this Group so far, but their only two wins have come against the weakest team in the grouo, Emelec. After that frustrating 2-2 draw at home against River Plate in the premiere they went on to defeat Emelec by 2-1 on the road, and also by 0-2 at home. In-between they had played for a couple of draws against Santa Fe. Flamengo are now sitting at the 2nd spot of the group with nine points, having scored 7 goals against 4 conceded.
