Europa League – Semi-Finals – Best Bets, Odds, Picks & Predictions

And then there were four. We now know that either Sevilla, Manchester United, Inter Milan, or Shakhtar Donetsk will win the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League, with the semi-finals taking place on August 16 and 17.

Five-time winners Sevilla face EPL giants Man Utd on Sunday before Antonio Conte’s Inter meet Ukrainian powerhouse Shakhtar. But who will make it to the final at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne, Germany, on Friday, August 21?

Let’s get stuck into my best Europa League semi-final bets.

Sevilla vs. Manchester United – 08/16/20

Manchester United (2.50) are the slight favorites to win this game, but I’m going against the bookies here. Sure, the English side have enjoyed an excellent campaign. The Red Devils have already secured Champions League soccer for next season after finishing third in the EPL, but their performance in the quarter-finals against Copenhagen was far from convincing.

On the other hand, Sevilla (2.88) have been nothing short of sensational in recent months. The Spanish outfit are on a remarkable 20-game unbeaten run in all competitions and haven’t lost any of their previous 26 Europa League games. Sevilla have also booked their spot in next season’s Champions League after ten points ahead of fifth-place Villarreal in La Liga.

I’m expecting this to be a tight game, but I think the Spaniards’ know-how will get Sevilla over the line and into the final.

Pick: Sevilla to Win – 2.88

Inter Milan vs. Shakhtar Donetsk – 08/17/20

Inter Milan (1.73) are the overwhelming favorites heading into this semi-final, while the bookies don’t think that Shakhtar Donetsk (4.50) stand much of a chance. And it’s difficult to argue with that viewpoint. After all, there is no denying that Inter are far stronger than Shakhtar.

The Italian side have been pretty much unstoppable since soccer returned, losing just one of their 13 league games after the restart to finish just a single point behind Serie A champions Juventus. Inter then cruised past Getafe in the Round of 16 before seeing off Bayer Leverkusen in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, enjoyed a much easier route to the last four, edging Wolfsburg and Basel along the way.

Inter don’t just do 1-0 wins. Indeed, they scored two or more goals in 22 of their 24 league wins in 2019/20. I’m backing Romelu Lukaku and co. to fire Inter to the final with a high-scoring victory.

Pick: Inter Milan to Win and Over 1.5 Goals – 2.00
