They will surely want this pathetic season to be over, in order to start planning the next one. They will play play host to Espanyol on Saturday, who have been slightly better overall, and much better lately.
Athletic Bilbao (10-14-13) suffered a bad loss on the road last week, where they fell by 1-3 against Alaves. They had the upper hand throughout the whole match, but they conceded three goals before they scored a consolation goal. Athletic Bilbao have been really bad on the defensive end, especially in 2018, having kept just four clean sheets in 24 matches since then. They are now sitting at the 16th spot of the La Liga with 43 points, and they could have been involved in relegation scenarios had there not been three much worse teams in the league.
Espanyol (11-13-13) have been really good lately, as they are coming off yet another win. They destroyed the visiting Malaga by 1-4, which was their third win in their last four matches (3-0-1). However, they have not been very good throughout the season, and are now sitting at the 14th spot of the league table with 46 points. They have not been anything special on the road either (3-8-7), where they have won just one of their last six.
