Real Madrid were in horrible shape prior to the forced break, and they will only hope that this break was beneficial to their form. They will now play host to Eibar on Sunday, who had not been very good either before the break.

Real Madrid (16-3-8) entered the forced break in really poor form, especially by their own standards, as they had won just one of their last five matches in all competitions (1-3-1). Oddly enough, their only win in that span was a nice 0-2 at home against arch-rivals Barcelona. Real Madrid are currently sitting at the 2nd spot of the league table with 56 points, just two behind Barcelona. They have been quite competitive at home so far (9-0-4), scoring 27 goals and conceding just nine in the process.

Eibar (7-14-6) were also in really bad shape prior to the break, as they had won just one of their last eight matches in all competitions (1-5-2). However, they only failed to score in two of those eight matches. They are now sitting at the 16th spot of the league table with 27 points, just two ahead of the relegation zone, so any points are welcome at this point. Eibar have the 2nd worst away record in the league (1-7-5), having scored a mere 8 goals on the road.
