Cork City are having a really strong season so far and are making a case for the title, as they are the only ones that are close to league leaders Dundalk. Cork City will now play host to Derry City on Monday, looking to make it five in a row. Derry City have been in bad form lately and this will not be an easy match for them.
Cork City (15-3-2) are coming off a really solid performance at home against the 3rd Waterford, whom they blasted by 0-3. That was the fourth consecutive win for Cork City, who have scored 12 goals in that span while conceding just one. They are still sitting at the 2nd spot of the Premier Division with 47 points, just two points behind league leaders Dundalk who have played one more match. Cork City have been dominant at home so far in the season, having won all nine matches there, and having conceded just one goal.
Derry City (9-8-3) suffered yet another loss on Friday, when they fell by 2-0 at home against Sligo Rovers. That was their fourth loss in their last five, having conceded 15 goals in that span, while scoring just 5. Even so, Derry City are still sitting at the 4th spot of the league table with 30 points. However, they are now six points behind the top three spots that grant entrance to the European competitions next season. Moreover, they have not been very strong on the road so far (3-6-1), where they have won just one of their last five (1-3-1).
