Real Madrid did a great job mid-week in the Champions League but they must also return to winning ways in the La Liga. They will look for a win when they will host Alaves on Saturday, but they will have to do so without some key players.

Real Madrid (5-2-2) made a huge step towards qualifying to the Champions League knock-out stage, when they beat Inter Milan by 2-0 on the road. However, they had not won any of their previous two matches, losing to Valencia by 1-4 and drawing a 1-1 against Villarreal last week. Real Madrid are now sitting at the 4th spot of the La Liga with 17 points, scoring 15 but conceding 10 goals already. They have a 2-1-0 record at home, beating Huesca and Valladolid but losing to Cadiz.

Alaves (2-4-4) are coming off a very frustrating 2-2 draw at home against Valencia. They took an early two-goal lead but conceded twice in a five-minute span in the second half to eventually draw. That was actually their third consecutive goal draw. They have lost just once in their last six matches (1-1-4). Alaves are sitting at the 15th spot of the league table with 10 points, scoring just nine and conceding 10 goals so far. They have a 1-1-2 record on the road, with three of those four matches producing goals from both sides.
