Columbus Crew at Toronto FC 10/6/19 - MLS Picks & Predictions

Columbus Crew woke up too late in the season and despite their recent good form, they cannot fight for a place in the playoffs. They will now travel to Toronto for their last match of the season, for a strong match against a team that has already booked their ticket to the post-season.

Columbus Crew (10-15-8) did a great job in their last match, where they beat Philadelphia by 0-2 at home. They have actually been in really good shape lately, losing just one of their last 12 matches (5-1-6), and going undefeated in their last five (3-0-2). But a terrible start in the season has them pinned at the 10th spot of the Conference with 38 points, seven behind the playoffs. Columbus have been mediocre on the road overall (4-9-3) but lost just once in their last seven away matches (3-1-3).

Toronto (12-10-11) are coming off a hard-fought 2-2 draw on the road against Chicago, where they scored a late equalizer. Prior to that they lost in the shoot-out of the Canadian Championship final against Montreal. But still, Toronto have lost just once in their last 13 matches in all competitions. They are sitting at the 6th spot of the Eastern Conference with 47 points, two ahead of New England, one behind the Red Bulls and two behind DC United. They have been strong at home (8-4-4), losing just once in the last four months there.

Three of the last five matches between the two have been draws, and each team has won once. There has been total balance between the two sides in this venue, with five wins each (5-5-6). But Columbus have scored in just one of their last five matches here (1-3-1). I am going with Columbus to hold on to the spread here.
