Minnesota United were struggling badly in the MLS but did a great job to win both matches in the US Open Cup. They will now return to MLS duties on Saturday when they will host Cincinnati. The newcomers didn’t have any luck in the US Open Cup either and have been quite weak this season.

Minnesota United (6-7-3) were tremendous in their last match, where they came back from two goals behind to eventually beat Houston by 3-2 on the road and moved to the next round of the US Open Cup. Minnesota United won both matches for the US Open Cup but prior to that they had three consecutive losses. They are now siting at the 7th spot of the Western Conference with 21 points. They have been quite hard to beat at home (3-1-3), keeping four clean sheets in the process. Cincinnati (3-12-2) are coming off a tough 2-0 loss at home against the LA Galaxy for the MLS. Prior to that they fell by 0-1 on the road against Saint Louis and bowed out of the US Open Cup. Cincinnati have now lost two in a row and six of their last seven (0-6-1). It is no wonder that they are still stuck at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with 11 points. Cincinnati have been pretty weak on the road so far (1-8-1) and have lost each of their last eight away matches.
