The New York Red Bulls finally put an end to their win-less streak with a home win over Columbus. They will now remain at home and they’ll look to make it two in a row when they will play host to Chicago Fire on Saturday. Chicago Fire saw their small unbeaten streak come to an end and they are now coming off back to back losses on the road.
The New York Red Bulls (6-9-4) scored an early goal in their home match against Columbus and held on to the result for the final 1-0 win. They really needed that, as it put an end to their 7-match win-less streak (0-4-3). The Red Bulls are now sitting at the 10th spot of the Eastern Conference with 22 points, scoring 23 and conceding 24 goals so far. They have been really good at home (5-2-2), scoring 13 and conceding just 7 goals, keeping 5 clean sheets in the process. However, they have won just 1 of their last 4 at home (1-1-2).
Chicago Fire (5-11-5) were actually not that bad in their 1-0 away loss to Orlando last week, but they could not turn their shots into goals. They have now lost two in a row (both on the road), while prior to that they were unbeaten in 4 (2-0-2). Chicago Fire are now sitting at the 12th spot of the Eastern Conference with 20 points, scoring 23 and conceding 33 goals in the process. They have been horrible on the road so far (0-7-1), scoring just 5 and conceding 18 goals in the process. They have scored in just 4 of their away matches so far.
