Two teams that are coming off wins over the weekend will now lock horns, when Brighton will play host to Chelsea in the first match of the New Year. Brighton broke out of their win-less streak while Chelsea are still looking to find some stability.

Chelsea (11-7-2) are coming off a strong performance, but also quite lucky, on the road against Arsenal, where they scored twice on a four-minute span to win by 2-1. But they have struggled with consistency lately, losing three of their last five league matches. Chelsea are now sitting at the 4th spot of the league table with 35 points, four ahead of Manchester United and six behind Manchester City. They have been great on the road so far (7-3-0), with nine of those featuring at least three goals.

Brighton (6-9-5) were pretty solid in their home match against Bournemouth, where they scored an early and a late goal to eventually win by a clean 0-2. They really needed that win, as prior to that they were win-less in four consecutive. Brighton are sitting at the 14th spot of the league table with 23 points, now six above the red line. They have been mediocre at home so far (4-3-3) but have lost just two of their last seven there.
