Champions League – Round of 16 – Best Bets, Odds, Picks & Predictions

The UEFA Champions League finally returns this weekend after five months without any action. Atalanta, PSG, RB Leipzig, and Atletico Madrid have already booked their place in the quarter-finals. But there are still four Round of 16 second legs to play. 

Barcelona vs. Napoli is set to be a thriller, but I have chosen to feature bets for Juventus vs. Lyon, Manchester City vs. Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich vs. Chelsea. Here are this week’s best value Champions League bets. 

Juventus vs. Lyon – 08/07/20 

The bookies have made Juventus (1.40) the clear favorites to win this game, while Lyon (7.00) are the rank outsiders. However, the French side carry a 1-0 lead into the second leg, so they will be happy to sit back and defend their advantage. Juventus are definitely the stronger of the two teams, but the Italians finished their domestic campaign in shoddy form. They only managed to win two of their final eight Serie A games and ended up finishing just one point clear at the top of the table. It will be difficult for Lyon to win the second leg, but backing the away side to avoid defeat could prove to be very profitable. 

Pick: Lyon and Draw Double Chance – 3.00 

Manchester City vs. Real Madrid – 08/07/20 

Manchester City (1.62) claimed a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid (4.33) in the first leg of this tie back in February. But a lot has changed since then. Real Madrid won ten straight games to clinch the La Liga title, while Man City finished a whopping 18 points behind Liverpool in the EPL. Real Madrid claimed their third successive UCL triumph in 2018 and have lifted four of the past six trophies. On the other hand, Man City have never made it past the semi-finals. With that in mind, the sky-high odds for the Real Madrid win seem too good to miss here. 

Pick: Real Madrid to Win – 4.33 

Bayern Munich vs. Chelsea – 08/08/20 

Bayern Munich (1.33) thrashed Chelsea (8.00) 3-0 in the first leg at Stamford Bridge, so this tie is as good as over. The German giants won 19 of their final 20 Bundesliga games to finish 13 points ahead of Borussia Dortmund, and they also won all six of their UCL group games with an average of four goals per game. Meanwhile, Chelsea have endured a wildly inconsistent season. The Blues managed to scrape into the top four in the EPL but lost to Arsenal in the FA Cup final last weekend. Chelsea must go for broke, so the English side are bound to score. However, Bayern will almost certainly outscore Frank Lampard’s team.
