Brazil have been rigorously wamring up for the World Cup, and have looked pretty solid in their friendlies so far. In their last friendly before the big event they will be hosted by Austria on Sunday. Austria failed to secure a ticket to the World Cup, but they have been cause quite a few upsets in their friendlies lately.
Austria might not travel to Russia for the World Cup, but they have tried to show us that they deserved it. They were engaged in a really strong match against Germany a week ago, where they actually defeated a much stronger team by 1-2. Germany used an experimental line-up, but Austria did a great job to have the upper hand. Austria have actually won all five of their friendlies since the Qualifiers were over, including wins over Germany, Russia and Uruguay who are all in the World Cup.
Brazil are in quite an easy group in the World Cup, but they have chosen to play some very competitive friendlies lately. They have defeated Japan, Russia and Germany, held England to a goal-less draw and defeated Croatia by 0-2 in their most recent. They did protect a lot of their players who are expected to start, but scored twice in the second half to record a comfortable win. Brazil will now test their squad against Austria, a team that has a similar profile with Switzerland, whom they will be playing against in the premiere of the World Cup.
