Bayer Leverkusen met a really heavy loss at home against Wolfsburg in the mid-week matchday and they will now look to bounce back when they will be hosted by Freiburg on Friday. Freiburg almost escaped with a win from Frankfurt but ended up splitting the points in a mouth-watering draw.
Freiburg (10-10-8) took the lead twice in their away match against Frankfurt on Tuesday but conceded two late goals to eventually split the points in a 3-3 draw. They have not looked very good after the break, grabbing just two points from a possible nine (0-1-2). They are now sitting at the 8th spot of the league table with 38 points, four behind Wolfsburg and the 6th spot that leads to the Europa League qualifiers. Freiburg have been mediocre at home so far in the season (6-5-2), winning just two of their last six matches (2-4-0).
Bayer Leverkusen (16-7-5) are coming off a really bad loss at home against Wolfsburg, in a match where they were truly unable to take anything. They went down by a harsh 4-0 before scoring a late consolation goal. That loss put an end to their 12-match undefeated streak in all competitions, as they once again failed to keep a clean sheet. They are now sitting at the 4th spot of the league table with 53 points, two behind the 3rd RB Leipzig. Bayer Leverkusen have the 3rd best away record in the league (9-4-1), and are undefeated in their last six away matches in all competitions (5-0-1). However, they have only kept three clean sheets on the road all season.
The two teams played for a 1-1 draw in Leverkusen earlier in the season, which means that Bayer are now undefeated in their last five matches against Freiburg (2-0-3). However, Freiburg have been great in their last six home matches against Leverkusen, going undefeated in that span (2-0-4). I am going to back Freiburg to cover the spread on this one.
