Basel at Shakhtar Donetsk 8/11/2020 - Europa League Picks & Predictions

Two teams that had pretty easy jobs in the previous round will now lock horns against one another in the quarter-finals of the Europa League, when Shakhtar Donetsk will clash against Basel on Tuesday. Both teams kept clean sheets in their last match and have been in really good shape lately.

Shakhtar Donetsk had to defend a 2-1 lead from the first leg in Germany, and they did a perfect job in the second leg to double their wins. It wasn’t an easy match though, and they did see a red card at the 68th minute, but they managed to score not one, not two, but three goals in a four-minute span at the end of the match to eventually win by 0-3. They are now undefeated in all ten matches after the restart (8-0-2). Shakhtar Donetsk have had Over 2.5 Goals in all ten of their Europa League matches this season, with seven of those seeing goals from both sides.

Basel did a tremendous job in the first leg of their tie against Frankfurt, beating them by an impressive 3-0 in Germany. They did not have an easy time in the second leg at home, but did manage to keep their opponents at bay and scored the only goal of the match for the final 0-1 win. There have been Over 2.5 Goals in nine of their 12 European matches this season. But five of the last six saw just one team scoring (5-0-1).
