Austin FC hosts FC Dallas on Sunday in the second round of the MLS Cup playoffs. Austin FC defeated Real Salt Lake 2-2 in penalties in round one. Austin became just the 11th club in the history of the MLS to overcome a deficit of two goals in a postseason match to avoid defeat after falling behind 2-0 to Real Salt Lake before rallying to win on penalties.

Austin established a new record in the MLS for shots during a playoff match with 38 in its comeback victory over Real Salt Lake. Thirteen players for Austin took at least one shot. Sebastian Driussi took 12 shots to lead Austin. Of the players who played for Austin versus Real Salt Lake, excluding the goalkeeper, only Moussa Djitte and Maxi Urruti did not attempt a shot.

FC Dallas has gone to penalty shootouts in each of its last three postseason victories, including its 1-1 victory in penalties over Minnesota in the opening round of this year’s playoffs. In the three penalty shootouts, FC Dallas has converted each of the 17 penalty shots. Dallas has played very well on the road this season, with four wins, seven draws and just six losses.

Dallas was victorious only four times away from home this season but each of the four wins were against sides that reached the playoffs this season, including LA Galaxy, Orlando City, Real Salt Lake and Minnesota. The Dallas goal by Facundo Quignon, was its first goal since July 9 off a corner kick. Jesus Ferreira is the leading scorer for Dallas with 18 goals and Paul Arriola has scored nine.
