Two teams currently sitting outside the playoffs spots will lock horns on Saturday, when the Vancouver Whitecaps will play host to the Austin FC. Vancouver are coming into this match after a really big win against Real Salt Lake and they have been in really good form. Austin FC are coming off a bad loss and they have not been in the best of forms lately.
Vancouver (6-7-8) did an excellent job in their home match against Real Salt Lake, scoring 4 goals before conceding a late and harmless goal for the final 4-1 win. They have now won 3 in a row and are unbeaten in their last 9 (4-0-5), keeping just 2 clean sheets in the process. Vancouver are now sitting at the 8th spot of the Western Conference with 26 points, scoring 27 and conceding 31 goals in the process. They have been mediocre at home so far (5-3-2), scoring 14 and conceding 12 goals in the process, while remaining unbeaten in their last 5 (3-0-2).
Austin FC (5-12-4) were in for a rough ride when they hosted FC Dallas in the Texas Derby last week. They temporarily pulled even at the 13th minute but conceded 3 more goals in a 4-minute span to enter the half-time break down by 4-1. The final 5-3 loss was nothing to cheer for, as Austin have now lost 4 of their last 5 and 8 of their last 10. Austin are now sitting at the 12th spot of the Western Conference with 19 points, scoring 20 and conceding 29 in the process. They have been rather bad on the road so far (2-7-2), scoring just 6 goals and conceding 14 in the process.
