New England were engaged in a spectacular match against Vancouver over the weekend but failed to grab all three points. They will now return home for their next assignment, where they will play host to Atlanta United. Atlanta United are coming off a bad loss at home against the New York Red Bulls.
New England (5-4-3) are coming into this match after a really competitive and quite exciting match on the road against Vancouver. However, despite taking a two-goal lead they were equalized, and the two teams eventually split the points in a 3-3 draw. That means that they have now won just two of their last seven matches (2-3-2), keeping just a clean sheet in the process. They are now sitting at the 6th spot of the Eastern Conference with 18 points and have been quite competitive at home so far (4-2-1).
Atlanta United (8-3-1) will be feeling really frustrated about the outcome of their previous match where they hosted the New York Red Bulls. They took the lead at the 26th minute of that match, but were equalized before the first half was over, and eventually lost by 3-1. Despite being really strong at home, they have now lost each of their last two. Atlanta United are still sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference with 25 points, just as many as Columbus Crew who have played two more matches.
