Two teams that are in bad need of points will lock horns in the final Match-day of the Serie A on Sunday, when Cagliari will play host to Atalanta. Cagliari are currently fighting to avoid the relegation, while Atalanta are looking to either secure their ticket to the Europa League qualifiers, or upgrade it to a ticket straight for the group stage.
Cagliari (10-21-6) made a huge step towards saving themselves from relegation this season, when they defeated Fiorentina by 1-0 on the road last week. They scored an early goal and had the upper hand throughout the whole match. Prior to that they were win-less in four (0-3-1), but that win pushed them out of the red zone. They are now sitting at the 16th spot of the league table with 36 points, just one point ahead of the relegation zone.
Atalanta (16-9-12) have been really good throughout the whole season, and even more so lately. They are coming off back to back draws against Milan and Lazio, and the yare now undefeated in their last seven (3-0-4). Atalanta are currently sitting at the 7th spot with 60 points, a spot that leads to the Europa League qualifiers next season. They are one point behind Milan and the 6th spot that leads straight to the group stage, but also three points ahead of Fiorentina. A loss here combined with a Fiorentina win just might throw Atalanta outside the top-seven.
