Marseille have made a solid start in the Ligue 1 this season, grabbing 4 points from their first two matches. They will now return home for their next assignment, where they will play host to Saint Etienne on Saturday. Saint Etienne have also made a positive start in the season, still unbeaten after 3 matches but also without win.
Marseille (1-0-1) played away at Nice last week but the match never finished because of some fans entering the pitch. However, prior to that they played for a 2-2 draw at home against Bordeaux, and they managed to beat Montpellier by 3-2 on the road in the season opener. The team looks much better now that coach Sampaoli has found his place in the club. Marseille are sitting at the 8th spot of the league table with 4 points, scoring 5 and conceding 4 goals, but they also have a match in hand.
Saint Etienne (0-0-3) were not very good in their home match against Lille last week, conceding the first goal at the 38th minute. It all looked like a loss but they managed to score a late equalizer at the 85th minute and salvaged a point with that 1-1 draw. Now all 3 of their matches this season have been goal draws, after a 2-2 on the road against Lens and a 1-1 at home against Lorient in the season opener. Saint Etienne are sitting at the 11th spot of the league table with 3 points, scoring 4 and conceding 4 goals.
