Having played a 0-0 draw against Liverpool, Arsenal now travel to Newcastle in search of all three points. Neither team has started this season well, with Arsenal sitting in the 9th place and Newcastle at the 17th.
The Gunners have four points from their opening three games and were lucky to grab a point from their encounter with Liverpool last Monday. Petr Cech made two stunning saves in the first half and Liverpool rattled the crossbar, but Aaron Ramsey did have a perfectly good goal chalked off for offside. In team news, Arsenal will be missing Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny is a big doubt once again as both center backs could miss out for the second game running.
As for the home side Newcastle, they showed tremendous resolute in holding Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford last time around. Their defense was lead by Fabricio Coloccini and keeper Tim Kruul who valiantly lead the defense. Mid-week they won 4-1 against Northampton in a match for the English League Cup, a game in which the manager rested almost his entire starting line-up. The squad should be fresh for this difficult outing.
A lot will depend on how Newcastle use their midfielder trio of Anita, Sissoko and Colback against the Gunners' Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla dictating the play at the St James’ Park stadium on Saturday. In the end though, Arsenal must have enough in their bank to come away with a vital win which should put their campaign in the right direction after a slow and mediocre start to the season.
