Arsenal at Manchester United 12/5/18 - Premier League Picks & Predictions

There is a massive match-up coming our way in the mid-week match-day of the Premier League, when Manchester United will play host to Arsenal on Wednesday. Manchester United were somehow stuck at a draw against Southampton and should actually feel glad about it. Arsenal had a much more difficult match against Tottenham but blasted their opponents and emerged victorious.

Manchester United (6-4-4) are coming off yet another frustrating and really weird match where they fought hard to avoid the loss. And it’s not like they were up against any giants, they were up against a much weaker team in Southampton. But looks can be deceiving, as Southampton stunned United twice in the first half with goals at the 13th and 20th minute. Manchester United fought hard to come back with goals at the 33rd and 39th minute for the final 2-2. They are now win-less in their last three league matches (0-1-2). Manchester United are sitting at the 7th spot of the Premier League with 22 points, eight points behind Arsenal and Tottenham. They have been really solid at home so far in the league (3-1-2), where they have lost just twice in ten matches in all competitions (4-2-4). Arsenal (9-2-3) played a spectacular match against North London rivals Tottenham on Sunday, a match that had it all, overturns in the lead, red cards, a couple of penalties. It was Arsenal who took an early lead when Aubameyang scored from the penalty spot, but Tottenham overturned the lead in their favor before the first half was over. But Arsenal pulled even at the 56th minute and went on to score twice in a two-minute span to eventually win by 2-4. Arsenal are now sitting at the 4th spot of the Premier League with 30 points, eight ahead of Everton and Manchester United, but just one point behind Chelsea. Arsenal have been excellent on the road so far in the season (4-1-1), where they also have three wins for the Europa League that were accompanied by clean sheets.

Manchester United have been great in this match-up lately (3-1-1), with four of those five matches featuring goals from both sides, and three of those had Over 2.5 Goals. Manchester United have been dominant as hosts against Arsenal over the past decade losing just once in an FA Cup match here (8-1-3). I will go with the hosts to cover the spread here, in a match that could potentially feature a lot of goals.
