Argentina at Brazil 7/2/19 - Copa America Picks & Predictions

One of the greatest rivalries of the soccer world is about to take place on Wednesday, when Brazil will take on arch-rivals Argentina.

Argentina had an easy job in the quarter-final against Venezuela, beating them by 2-0. Venezuela had large percentages of ball control while down by 1-0 in the second half but Argentina sealed the win with another goal at the 74th minute. Argentina have not fared well against teams ranked inside the top-ten lately, losing each of their last four such matches and are win-less in five. Oddly enough, their last such win came back in June 2016 against Brazil. Brazil did not have an easy job in the quarter-finals against Paraguay after their massive win over Peru. Even though Paraguay were down to 10 men for the last half hour, the match went to penalties where Brazil won. They really needed that, as they had been eliminated in the shoot-out against Paraguay in two of the last three editions. Brazil have not conceded a goal in their last 623 minutes of plat (5-0-1).

Brazil leads the all-time series with 42 wins, 38 losses and 24 draws. They have also been great in the last five matches in all competitions against Argentina (3-1-1). Brazil are always strong at home, and are even so against Argentina, so I am going with the home team here.
