Winnipeg Jets at Anaheim Ducks 10/13/21 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Winnipeg Jets opened the NHL regular season on the road Wednesday night to take on the Anaheim Ducks. Winnipeg comes into this game after struggling throughout the preseason but will look to turn things around and get back to their winning ways from a year ago that saw Winnipeg make the second round of the playoffs.

Winnipeg relied heavily on their offense a year ago ranking 13th in the NHL with 2.97 goals per game, while posting a 17th best 29.72 shots. Mark Scheifele led the way for Winnipeg with 63 total points to go along with a team high 42 assists, while Kyle Connor boasted a team leading 26 goals.

The Anaheim Ducks kick off the 2020-2021 season ooking to improve on a miserable season a year ago. Anaheim finished the NHL regular season in the bottom of the standings with a 17-30-9 overall record as the team missed the playoffs.

Much of the struggle for Anaheim came on the offensive side of the puck as the Ducks ranked dead last in the NHL with 26.79 shots, while scoring a league low 2.25 goals per game. Max Contois led the Anaheim offense with a team high 33 points to go along with 16 goals, while Rickard Rakell added 19 assists.

The Winnipeg Jets struggled in the preseason but are still the better team in this game. Look for the Jets to play much better to start the regular season off strong.
