Vancouver Canucks at Columbus Blue Jackets 10/18/22 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Tuesday NHL schedule will get underway with a matchup between the Vancouver Canucks and the Columbus Blue Jackets from Nationwide Arena. The Canucks (0-3-0) are in the midst of a five-game road trip to start the year and finished fifth in the Pacific Division a season ago. Last night, Vancouver surrendered four unanswered goals during the final period of a 6-4 road loss against Washington.

J.T. Miller gave Vancouver a 4-2 lead late in the second period on a power play goal. Elias Pettersson scored and had two assists for the Canucks, who outhit the Capitals by a 34-27 margin.

The Columbus Blue Jackets scored a franchise record 258 goals last season, but failed to make the playoffs. The Blue Jackets (0-3-0) made some minor improvement on defense through free agency and pulled off a major heist by signing LW Johnny Gaudreau (40 goals, 75 assists) away from Calgary. On Saturday, Columbus gave up three straight goals during the third period of a 5-2 road loss against St. Louis.

Gustav Nyquist scored the first Columbus goal on assists from Johnny Gaudreau and Erik Gudbranson. Sean Kuraly tied it 18 seconds later for the Blue Jackets, who were outhit 28-14 by the Blues.

Columbus RW Patrik Laine suffered an arm injury in the season opener and will not play in this contest. These two teams have given up 14 goals each through their first three games. Look for Columbus to win a game that goes over the total. Final Score Prediction, Columbus Blue Jackets win 4-3.
