The Dallas Stars are coming into the game here after getting beat on the road by Detroit. While that may not seem that shocking, what is shocking is the fact that the Stars allowed a single player to put in a total of 4 goals for them and that was the disappointing part. Now, the Star are facing a Capitals team that has been playing strong on the season so far.
This year the Stars have been able to score at a clip of 2 goals a game. Defensively the Stars are giving up 3 goals a game, but have killed off 85.7% of the penalties they have faced. The Stars do need to work on their power play offense as they have yet to convert on the year.
The Capitals are coming in after picking up a decent record on the year so far of 2-1. However, what is really impressive is the fact that he Capitals offense has been able to play decent this year and the defense has ended up doing good to. The downside is the Capitals have not been able to pull away with any of the games they have played and have had to rely on the games being very close wins.
This season the Capitals have ended up getting a total of 2.33 goals a game on the year. The defense is only giving up an average of 2 goals a game on the season. The Capitals have only managed to convert on the power play at a clip of 18.2% on the season. When it comes to killing off the penalties the Caps have killed off 71.4% of the penalties they have faced.
