The Dallas Stars hit the road to face off against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday in an NHL Western Conference clash. The Stars lost their opening game of the season at home against the Boston Bruins 2-1. Dallas lost defenseman Roman Polak after he ran head first into the boards. Roope Hintz scored Dallas’ only goal and Joe Pavelski had an assist.
After an on ice celebration with the Stanley Cup banner prior to their season opener and a parade around the ice with the Stanley Cup, the Blues went out and lost at home 3-2 to Washington in overtime. Alex Pietrangelo and Sammy Blais each scored for St. Louis while goalie Jordan Binnington made 31 saves in net.
Roope Hintz has scored the only Dallas goal through one game, while Joe Pavelski and Mattias Janmark each have one assist and the three Hintz, Pavelski and Janmark lead the Stars in points with one each. Ben Bishop is 0-1-0 with goals against of 2.05 and save percentage of .900.
Sammy Blais and Alex Pietrangelo each have one goal to lead the Blues. Ryan O’Reilly is the St. Louis leader in assists with two and in points with two, while five other players have one point apiece. Jordan Binnington is 0-0-1 with goals against of 2.86 and save percentage of .912.
