The San Jose Sharks are a team that would like to start the season off right. However, in this game the Sharks are going to face off against the Golden Knights who are another team that has quite a bit to prove as well. The Sharks, though, have to really overcome some of the struggles they had last year in the playoffs as it could be one of the last seasons the Sharks have with their stars.
Joe Thornton turned 40 this past season and Brent Burns the start defenseman is coming into the season at 34. Both of those ages are very old by the NHL standard and that could make it harder for the Sharks to win without them. The good news is Martin Jones is only 29 and should be around for a few more years for the Sharks.
For the Golden Knights they are already being projected as one of the teams that could make it back to the cup finals. However, what the Golden Knights are really looking for is an opening game win at home and that would really help them in getting the best momentum they possibly could get at the start of the year.
The Golden Knights do have a very experience goalie coming back again as Marc Andre-Fleury is taking to the net again. He has gotten a little bit older on the year, but that has not really slowed him down on the year compared to what it has done to some of the other goalies that have been playing on the year so far.
