Senators at Flames 3/21/19 - NHL Picks & Predictions

Ottawa is the worst team in the NHL right now, but the Senators do have a chance of climbing out of that rank as they are only 2 points behind the Kings in the standings overall. Both of the teams are eliminated from the playoffs, but in this game the Senators will be playing for team pride and to show off some of the talent they got when they decided to sell out and trade everyone that could have made a difference for the team.

On the season so far the Senators have been able to score at a clip of 2.96 goals a game on the year so far. The Senators defense has given up a total of 3.64 goals a game, but that is not the worst average in the NHL. The Senators power play is decent at 19.4%, but the penalty kill is in the bottom third of the league at 79.5% on the year. The Flames are sitting atop the Pacific and are actually looking like a team that could clinch the home ice advantage in the Western Conference. However, the Flames looked really good in the game they played on Tuesday when they were able to take down the Columbus Blue Jackets by a score of 4-2 and bring back the Pacific Division lead to the Flames.

The Flames have the third best offense in the NHL with 3.56 goals a game being scored. The defense is not that bad as they are giving up only 2.79 goals a game. The Flames are in the top 10 for the power play conversion at 21.2%, but the Flames penalty kill does need to have some work done as they are killing off only 79.7% of the power plays they have faced.

The Flames are at home and the Flames are facing a very weak and gutted Senators team heading into this game here. Look for the Flames to be able to come into this game and easily control the Senators offense, but also be able to score almost at will against a horrible defense. Final Score Prediction, Calgary Flames win 5-1.
