Seattle Kraken at Chicago Blackhawks 10/23/22 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Sunday NHL schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Seattle Kraken and the Chicago Blackhawks from the United Center. The Kraken (2-2-2) appear to be much improved in year two of their existence and could challenge for a playoff spot in the Western Conference. On Friday, Colorado held an 18-shot advantage during a 3-2 road victory against defending Stanley Cup Champion Colorado.

Seattle RW Karson Kuhlman scored the game-winning goal with less than eight minutes remaining on assists from Jaden Scwartz and Jamie Oleksiak. Schwartz put the Kraken on the scoreboard first with a power play goal 98 seconds into the second period.

The Chicago Blackhawks are in the midst of a full rebuild and should be one of a few teams in contention for the worst record in the league. On Friday, Chicago showed plenty of fighting spirit during a 4-3 overtime victory versus visiting Detroit. The Blackhawks (2-2-0) erased two-goal deficits twice and won 34 of 55 faceoffs on the night.

C Max Domi’s overtime goal was unassisted and his second as a member of the Blackhawks. D Connor Murphy tied the game for Chicago on a shorthanded goal that was assisted by Sam Lafferty.

Seattle G Phillip Grubauer (undisclosed) left Friday night’s victory during the third period and his status for this game is uncertain. The Kraken have played an attacking style of hockey and they have more firepower than the Blackhawks. Take Seattle to win on the road. Final Score Prediction, Seattle Kraken win 4-3.
