Seattle Kraken at Calgary Flames 11/1/22 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Calgary Flames host the Seattle Kraken on Nov. 1 as they meet for the first time this season. Calgary beat Seattle in all four games last season.

Seattle’s record this season is 4-4-2 overall and 2-1-1 on the road. The Kraken have gone 6-4 against the puck line overall and 3-1 on the road. Five of their games have gone OVER this season. Calgary is 5-2 overall and 4-2 at home. The Flames are just 3-4 against the puck line though and are 2-4 against it at home.

Calgary lost to Edmonton, 3-2, at home on Saturday after leading 2-1 entering the final period. Mikael Backlund and Brett Ritchie each had goals for the Flames. Jacob Markstrom made 22 saves in suffering his first loss of the season.

Nazem Kadri leads the Flames with four goals and a team-high nine points. Rasmus Andersson is the team’s assists leader with six and has seven points. Markstrom is 4-1 with a .903 save percentage and has allowed 2.60 goals per game.              

Seattle defeated Pittsburgh, 3-1, at home on Saturday. Jordan Eberle and Morgan Geekie each scored in the second period for the Kraken, while Jaden Schwartz had an empty-net goal late. Schwartz also had an assist.

Schwartz now has five goals and five assists for a team-high 10 points. Jared McCann also has five goals to go along with his three assists for eight points. Matty Beniers is tied with McCann at eight points with four goals and four assists.

Seattle has won three of its last five games after opening the season 1-4, including two losses in overtime, but knocking off Calgary at home is a tall order. The Flames were 25-9-7 at home last season. Calgary should have a clear edge in net with Markstrom likely to start. Final Score Prediction: Calgary wins and covers 4-2.
