San Jose Sharks at Arizona Coyotes 1/14/21 - NHL Picks & Predictions

With San Jose last year looked like it was the first of a long few years as the Sharks are older and need to inject youth. The Sharks have ended up getting 2.57 goals per game scored while getting the power play conversion of 17.5%. The defense for San Jose has allowed 3.21 goals per game while doing good on the penalty kill at 85.7%.

Logan Couture is coming to the Sharks this year, but he is 31 years old. Evander Kane has to regain some of his stronger form to keep the Sharks competitive. Brent Burns seem to be timeless for San Jose, but he has struggled as father time has caught up with him. The goalies ended up getting a talent injection as Martin Jones is back, but Devan Dubnyk is coming over from the Wild to help out as well.

The Coyotes have had some issues in the years past with the lack of offensive production. That could continue in the game here as the Coyotes did not add a lot of offensive talent. The offense for Arizona ended up scoring at a clip of 2.71 goals per game and converted on the power play at 19.2%. Defensively the Coyotes have allowed 2.61 goals per game and killed off 82.7% of the penalties.

On the bright side Nick Schmaltz came back this year for the Coyotes. The Coyotes are also bringing back Clayton Keller who did provide some offensive spark last season. Now, the key question for the Coyotes is if Darcy Kuemper is coming back at full strength or not. If he does the Coyotes will be solid defensively as well.
