Rangers at Sharks 12/12/19 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The New York Rangers (15-12-3) will visit the San Jose Sharks (15-16-2) at the SAP Center. Last time out, the Rangers took a loss to the Kings on the road, 3-1. The Sharks will be the Rangers’ third game on the four-game road trip. The Rangers are now 1-1 on the road trip with a win against Las Vegas.

The Rangers are led by Artemi Panarin, who has 37 points including 15 goals and 22 assists on the year. Henrik Lundqvist will start in goal with seven wins on the year and a save percentage of .911. He’s allowed 3.15 goals per game this season. Lundqvist gave up two goals on 25 shots in the loss to the Kings.

San Jose has lost five straight games. They haven’t won in the month of December. Logan Couture leads the Sharks in points with 29 including nine goals and 20 assists. Evander Kane leads the team in goals with 13. Seven of the 13 have been power play goals. He’s taken 101 shots on the year. Erik Karlsson leads the Sharks in assists with 21. He’s also chipped in with three goals and has 24 points on the season. Martin Jones will get the start sporting a 12 win record and a .891 save percentage. He saved 29 of 31 shots during Tuesday’s loss to the Predators. He’s allowed 3.23 goals per game.

The Sharks are falling apart in December while the Rangers continue to trade wins for losses. Good news for the Rangers is that they lost the last game to the Kings.

The Sharks are falling apart in December, but at the same time the Sharks are playing at home and playing a Rangers team that has been questionable offensively at times this season. What else helps the Sharks is the Rangers are coming off a loss to the Kings, a questionable team this year. Look for the Sharks to take advantage of a Rangers defense that did not look up to the same standard as normal in their last game, but also playing at home allows the Sharks to bounce back nicely. The downside is the Rangers are a well coached team and can patch the holes that were exposed by the Kings before this game. Final Score Prediction, New York Rangers win 5-2.
