Pittsburgh Penguins at Seattle Kraken 10/29/22 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Seattle Kraken host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Oct. 29 for the first meeting between these two teams this season. They split two games last season with Pittsburgh winning 6-1 at Seattle in early December and the Kraken winning 2-1 in overtime on the Penguins home ice in late January.

Entering play Friday, the Penguins were 4-2-1 overall and 1-2-1 on the road. Against the puck line, they were 4-3 and 1-3 on the road. Pittsburgh’s games have gone OVER the total five times this season. The Kraken are 3-4-2 overall and 1-3-1 at home. They are 5-4 against the puck line and the OVER is 6-3-1.

Seattle last played Thursday, losing 5-4 at home against Vancouver. The Kraken led 2-1 after the first period but the Canucks had a 2-1 second period to enter the third tied 3-3. Vancouver quickly took a 4-3 lead scoring 1:16 into the final period. It remained a one-goal game until the Canucks scored again with just 1:25 to play. Seattle scored with 30 seconds left but couldn’t pull even in the remaining time.

Jamie Oleksiak, Jared McCann, Matty Beniers and Jaden Schwartz scored a goal apiece for the Kraken. Schwartz also had an assist. Martin Jones had his worst save percentage of the season (.788), stopping 14 of 18 shots.

Pittsburgh was scheduled to play at Vancouver on Friday after losing 4-1 at Calgary on Tuesday. Evgeni Malkin scored the Penguins only goal against the Flames. Sidney Crosby did not record a point and remained at 899 assists for his career. Casey DeSmith started in goal and had 31 saves. DeSmith is 0-1-1 this season.

Pittsburgh leads the league with 4.29 goals scored per game, while Seattle is nearly a goal back at 3.33. The Penguins are allowing 3.00 goals a game, which is about league average. The Kraken are allowing the seventh most goals per game at 3.67. Pittsburgh will be playing on back-to-back nights for the second time this week, so Seattle may be a little fresher. Look for the Penguins to get the lead early on and do enough defensively to get the victory. Final Score Prediction: Pittsburgh wins 4-3.
