Penguins at Islanders 4/12/19 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Penguins dropped the first game of the playoff series to the team that finished ahead of them in the standings, the Islanders. The game was a back and forth battle, though, with both teams scoring in the 3rd period to get the game tied up and ready for the overtime. It was in the overtime period the Islanders, who have been consistent all season were able to prove yet again that consistency is able to overcome the star power as they finally pulled out the win. Matt Murray was the goalie the Penguins sent out in the first game. He faced a total of 33 shots on the night and allowed only 4 goals. He did end up turning away 29 of the shots on the night including a power play save and 4 short handed saves on the night.

Robin Lehner was in net for the Islanders in the game and he faced 44 shots only allowing 3 to get by him. He did not have any saves on the power plays, but he did have 4 short handed saves as well. He managed to save a total of 93.2% of the shots that have been sent towards him on the night.

In this game the Penguins will be looking to bounce back from the loss they just had. However, the Islanders are going to put up a fierce fight in the game and have quite a bit of confidence coming into this game after winning the first game in overtime. Look for the Islanders to be able to contain the Penguins offense again and that will make a difference in the game as the Islanders offense does just enough. Final Score Prediction, New York Islanders win 4-3.
