The Panthers can imagine how things would be looking with slightly different outcomes at this early point in the season. They find themselves fourth in the Atlantic Division despite a league-leading five overtime losses. Florida suffered one of those losses on Thursday night against Washington. The Panthers have played a bunch of exciting matches, with a Top 5 conference ranking in goals scored and allowed, with 56 apiece.

Center Aleksander Barkov has a knack for being involved in goals, with more than 50 assists the last two seasons. So far in 2019-20, he ranks fourth in the NHL with 16 assists. He comes into Saturday's matchup with a goal and an assist in three straight games.

The Islanders have been the talk of the young season, with a 10-game winning streak that was snapped on Thursday against Pittsburgh. New York is right on the heels of Washington in the Metropolitan Division, with just four fewer points despite playing two fewer games. The Islanders are tops in defense and goalkeeping, with the NHL's best mark of just 34 goals allowed.

Mathew Barzal has been a good facilitator at the center spot for New York. With six goals and six assists, Barzal leads the team and ranks 10th in the NHL with a plus-minus of +10. Barzal went a couple of games without contributing to a goal before an assist in the loss against the Penguins on Thursday.

The Islanders are looking to get back on the winning path and facing the Panthers, whose defense has been suspect at times this year definitely helps the Islanders on that path. Look for the Islanders to have a good chance of bringing home the win and getting a chance to lock down the win rather easily. Final Score Prediction, New York Islanders win 4-3.
