The Edmonton Oilers look to bounce back from a loss when they visit the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday. The Oilers were beaten on the road Sunday 1-0 by the Winnipeg Jets in a shootout. The defensive struggle did not see any goals scored until the shootout. Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins were stopped during the shootout for the Oilers. The game was the 800th for Edmonton’s Kris Russell. 

Minnesota looks for its second straight victory when hosting the Oilers on Tuesday. The Wild defeated the Montreal Canadians 4-3 on Sunday snapping a two-game losing streak and enacting some revenge after losing to the same Canadians earlier in the week 4-0. Zach Parise scored what proved to be the winning goal for the Wild midway through the final period.

James Neal leads Edmonton in goals scored with nine, while Connor McDavid leads the Oilers in assists with 12 and points with 17. In net, Mike Smith is 3-1-1 with goals against of 1.98 and saves percentage of .930. Edmonton is scoring an average of 3.33 goals per game while allowing an average of 2.22 per game.

Brad Hunt leads Minnesota in goals scored with three and points with five. Marcus Foligno is the leader in assists for Minnesota with three. Edmonton has not fared well playing in Minnesota losing 23 of the last 30 on the Wild’s home ice. However, the Oilers are a changed group this season and have jumped out to a hot start with an overall record of 7-1-1 and a first place lead in the Pacific of three points.
